Challenge

More than 100,000 people were evacuated from Afghanistan when the US military pulled out of the country in August 2021. Nonprofit organizations jump-started a massive effort to resettle tens of thousands of Afghan families in the United States, with the help of local volunteers. Refugee resettlement organizations were inundated with questions from the public about the plan to resettle Afghan families, how many people would be arriving, and what they could do to help.

Solution

This printable 2-page document serves two purposes. The first page is an infographic summarizing answers to some of the most frequently-asked questions about the effort to resettle Afghan families in the US, with clickable links to reliable news sources for more information. The second page outlines seven specific ways that readers can help with the local resettlement effort in Columbus, Ohio.

This document was created as a sample piece for a potential volunteer client, and uses the organization's brand colors as well as information from their website. The logo and contact information for the organization has been removed pending permission.

Results

Potential donors, volunteers, and members of the general public can use this document as a quick reference guide to access information about an important social issue without the need to invest intensive time and energy in personal research. This document can be used as a tool to recruit and train potential volunteers.
