Challenge

Social service staff at a large refugee resettlement agency faced ongoing challenges related to job-related stress and burnout. If left unaddressed, this had the potential to result in high turnover for staff in direct client service roles. The organization aimed to be proactive in providing resources to help staff deal with job-related stress. Informational sessions offered practical suggestions for dealing with stress and burnout, but many direct service staff lacked the time to attend.

Solution

The goal was to create a 1-2 page resource guide offering practical self-care tips for handling work-related stress and anxiety. It needed to be informative, practical, and easy to read, with bite-size suggestions that staff could realistically put into practice without feeling more overwhelmed.

Results

This resource was distributed widely to direct-service staff across multiple programs during a time of particular organizational stress. It was also made available to partner affiliate agencies.
